About Me

I’m Jean-Christophe
I’m a bilingual French–English translator working into my dominant language, English. After a long career in education in London, I brought my broad general knowledge? cultural awareness and curiosity to a new path in translation. I thrive on research and enjoy working across a wide range of topics.
In recent years, I’ve focused on translating for NGOs. That experience sharpened my ability to carry meaning across languages with the tone, clarity, and context it needs to connect.
As a child, I pictured myself as a tour guide. While I became a teacher instead, the love of history, travel, language, and sharing stories about the world never left me. Working in culture and tourism translation feels like coming full circle, and a chance to help people connect with places and cultures through language.
My work is guided by values of empathy, collaboration, and service. I aim to create value through my work, supporting projects that inform, inspire, and connect, with care and clarity at the heart of everything I do.
I’ve always been curious by nature and love learning new things, whether through reading history books and magazines, exploring different composers, or taking online courses. I have a particular fondness for classical music and vocal styles, from French baroque to more contemporary fare, via opera and art song.

“Jean-Christophe is a dedicated translator who pays great attention to details, identifies mistakes in the original, verifies hyperlinks and asks meaningful questions when considering anglophone audiences who might not be familiar with the context of the original francophone story.”

Why trust matters
In a field where translation is often treated as a commodity, I believe that relationships and trust make all the difference. My aim isn’t just to deliver high-quality work—it’s to build lasting partnerships based on reliability, openness, and a genuine understanding of each client’s needs.
